How CVT Works for You

CVT pools the resources of school districts to create a large group of participants, effectively lowering healthcare premiums and providing quality benefits. The concept creates a more stable environment for contract negotiations by providing several options so each district can best balance cost with quality in providing benefits packages for teachers and school employees, as well as retirees.

Today, CVT is the largest self-funded public schools trust in the state, with more than 200 district members covering the entire state of California. With over 25 years of experience in serving the unique needs of the education community, we are among the most respected providers of quality healthcare programs.

Under the trust arrangement, member districts only have financial responsibility for their program's contribution. The trust cannot ask participants or member districts for additional funding - it must be fully funded for expenses and reserves. In over two decades of service, members have never paid additional contributions midyear for health, dental or vision coverage.

The trust office handles all enrollment, eligibility and billing functions for its members, as well as the complex processes involving COBRA and self-paid retiree coverage.
