Mental Health Awareness Month

May 4, 2022

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It’s human nature to have emotional ups and downs, and it’s healthy to respond to the downs by talking through them. The stigma surrounding mental health is unwarranted. If your body is hurt, you seek help; the same should go for your mental health.

It’s estimated that one in five adults will experience a diagnosable mental health issue. Don’t suffer alone and risk getting worse when help is available.

What kinds of mental health support are available?

  • Social support – your network of friends and family are an important element of maintaining good mental health.
  • Counseling – talking with a trained mental health professional to collaboratively work through a problem. The key is to find a counselor or therapist who you can trust and whose approach works best for you.
  • Medication – treatment for certain mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and psychosis include medication to supplement counseling.

For tips on ways to manage your mental health, turn to your Employee Assistance Program. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can help you with:
